In 2013, Iranian photographer Azadeh Akhlaghi presented her series, By an Eye Witness, in Tehran, which has since been exhibited internationally. Eye Witness reconstructs seventeen death scenes from throughout twentieth-century Iranian history. In this episode, we talk about what motivated Akhlaghi to make the series and why it resonated with contemporary Iranians. In the process, we take a close look at one of the pictures, which depicts the assassination of political writer Mirzadeh Eshghi in 1924.
